The “ALPHA MEGA SERVICE” which was held in Subic Freeport Zone brought together the Alpha Phi Omega community in a wide scale medical, dental and basic derma service mission to the indigenous aetas of Pastolan Village in Hermosa, Bataan. Organized and lead by the Alpha Chapter, the efforts of Alpha Chapter Alumni Association (ACAA) President Ma. Delia Camposano Kho was realized as brothers and sisters from the Alumni Association of Olongapo City, Mount Pinatubo, Bataan, Deparo, Marikina, and other collegiate chapters also assisted in the cause. Over all, there were about more than a hundred APO volunteers and several APO friends who came to assist and provide support.

The mega service which provided free medical consultations, dental checkups and tooth extractions also offered free medicine to the recipients. On the other hand, parlour games and haircuts where conducted for the children and adult alike of the village. They were also given basic school supplies and toiletries.

The program was well-planned and orderly since each station, from registration to the medical and dental areas, were manned by APO volunteers who unceasingly provided quality care. These volunteers took each patient’s personal information, recent medical history and vital signs prior to consultation. On the other hand, the Medical station was headed by doctors’ Bro Mac Lichauco of ACAI and Bro Nani Reyes of ACAA who attended very carefully to each patient. These brothers are proud members of our dear Alpha Chapter. Conversely, the Dental station was lead by Sis Irene Sibayan and Bro Jun Teopengco an excellent dental practitioner and a friend of our very own ACAA President, Dr. Gerardo Asia.

Over all, the medical and dental mission was a great success since many people came to avail the various services offered. Almost 400 (medical) , 80 (dental) and 20 (derma) recipients who came for consultations responded warmly to the program and brought every family member to be treated. They also encouraged their friends and other villagers to avail and take advantage of our medical and dental service as we also gave away free medicines for various sickness and diseases. Hence, the event which started at nine in the morning and finished at five in the afternoon kept everyone busy and on their toes not to mention the heat and humid temperature we are all enduring the service was rewarding seeing every aeta we served is relieved and with a smile on their face.

The Alpha Mega Service ended with the singing of the APO Toast Song. A fellowship dinner to celebrate the day’s activities was held at Paradito Resort in Olongapo City and at the same time certificates of appreciation were also given to all who have taken their time off to participate in such a noble deed.
